Dr. James Michael Crusoe

James Michael Crusoe is a native of Dayton, Ohio. He is married to Debra Dilworth of Hobbs, New Mexico. They have 3 adult children and 1 grandchild.
For the last 40 years, Minister Crusoe preached the gospel in 31 states and 5 countries outside the United States. He served congregations in Arizona, Kansas, Tennessee, California and Virginia.
He served with distinction for 14 years with the Arlington Rd. congregation in Hopewell, Virginia and returned to this congregation in 2019. His ministerial involvement includes a 6 year run on THE WORD NETWORK which reached 60 million viewers each week; began several support groups and established an adult literacy program in Memphis, TN; served as a chaplain with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; Magistrate for the City of Hopewell.He works part-time as a GED Instructor with Prince George County Schools in conjunction with Riverside Regional Jail Correctional facility.
Crusoe is the founder and Executive Director of Grace Place Retirement Community, a two story, 30 unit facility that received a $3.1 million dollar HUD grant. He also serves as President of Charis Acres, the sponsoring organization of Grace Place; he is a board member of the National Teachers Workshop and serves on the Advisory Committee of the National Churches of Christ.
He received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Union University in 2015, doctoral dissertation thesis entitled, "Developing A Young Adult Ministry at Norris Rd. Church of Christ” which focused on the development, implementation, retention and mentoring of young adults ages 18 to 35 with special emphasis on an aging congregation. M.S. in Ministry & Evangelism-Abilene Christian University-1983; B.A. in Sociology-Wittenberg University.
He is the author of several publications, most recent: “SOMEBODY MUST COME PREACHING: A COLLABORATIVE COLLECTION OF EXPOSITIONS IN AFRICAN-AMERICAN CHURCHES OF CHRIST.”
